We renovated space in the Creative Communications building as a “Lean Center,” where we conduct most of our team launch events, training, open houses, focused exercises and tours. For more details and registration information, please visit our Tours & Trainings pages.
We have hosted a wide variety of Campus and non-UW visitors, who are interested in our Lean journey. Most tours include team spaces, huddles and visual boards, along with an orientation to our approach at the Lean Center.
Among our visitors, given the Governor’s emphasis on Lean in government, the State’s Departments of Corrections, L&I, Health, Enterprise Services, Military, and Ecology have visited, along with the “Results Washington” staff in the Governor’s Office, with whom we work closely. Local public-sector visitors include Port of Seattle, King County, Seattle Public Schools, and Sound Transit.
Higher Education groups have come from Cornell University, University of Utah, Pepperdine, the University of California System (CFO’s Office), WSU and Bellevue College; we are working collaboratively with Notre Dame, and with NCCI—a consortium of higher education institutions devoted to innovation and continuous improvement.
Corporate visitors include members of the Northwest Quality Forum--Starbucks, Microsoft, Boeing, Group Health, PEMCO Insurance, and Children’s Hospital.
Interest in our work is increasing; we have supported the last two Washington State Lean Transformation Conferences by speaking, conducting breakout sessions and staffing booths.
